Cursed Thoughts - Part I

PannionSeer Hornwood Fell continue to expand and perfect their progressive blackened death style, carving out an identity of their own in a genre bloated with copycats. I agree with Ippocalyptica's use of the word "cinematic" to describe this album--it does indeed have a strong sense of internal drama and an almost narrative structure. I might be alone in this, but a few of these tracks remind me of early Opeth. Favorite track: Obsession.
Ippocalyptica

Ippocalyptica I detect some black metal here, if by that we mean to say something like the mid-era Akercocke variety, but otherwise I feel way more of a progressive death metal influence here, like Ingurgitating Oblivion’s 2017 opus but with a more cinematic feel. If this sounds weird, blame my inability to describe this absolute masterwork of modern extreme metal and listen to it yourself, for you might just find this to be one of 2020’s best metal albums. Stunning from start to finish! Favorite track: Magnetic Horror.
Metallurgical Fire

Metallurgical Fire Both parts of this double album have home run, at the buzzer, slam dunk, touchdown, other shitty sports metaphor closing tracks that are simply amazing. The rest is good too, but man can this band finish well. Favorite track: The Giantess.

YomaBarr First part of a double album. Don't miss out.
If this is post black I'm a Russian ballet dancer. This is unconventional imaginative death as hell and as you've never heard before (I know what I'm saying), and downright incredibly good too. Year's list for sure. Favorite track: Obsession.
